CHAIRMAN REPORT

Well folks, the 2014 shooting year is just about over. We had five Chairman Contests during the year. All of them were very good and each special in their own way. This is the first year that I have had the opportunity to attend all of the Chairman Contests during the year. It made for a busy and enjoyable year with lots of traveling. 2015 is shaping up to be just as busy. Our Thumbing Division was a great success this year, not only drawing more participants from the WFDA but also enticing several new memberships to the WFDA. A hearty welcome to all.
Regarding our Thumbing Division (used to be Hollywood), it was created to draw competitors that had stock guns so they could give Fast Draw a try without buying a lot of expensive equipment, and of course for those that like to thumb. Very few changes from stock guns are allowed such as, removal of front sights, changing of the grips, and action jobs. Please be aware that changes of rules in other organizations are not automatically approved in our Thumbing Division. The WFDA is not committed to following or adhering to rules other than WFDA rules. If you have any questions please call me before you drastically change your gun or equipment.
Congratulations to Karen Robinson and Dan Qualls for their year end overall World Champion wins. It was the first time for each of us. I am very pleased to have won the title the same year as Karen who has been shooting many years (I’m not saying how many years) and is a great friend from Canada. Congratulation to all of the other winners and participants during the year.
I would like to add many thanks to Karen Robinson who ran the line at several contests during the year. Atta girl Karen. Anyone that is qualified should step up and help out once in a while.
I would also like to thank all those, ladies and gentlemen, who stepped up and helped at the score table during the year. Without folks like these we would not be having any contests.

Please remember this is a members magazine. You are invited to contribute articles, tech tips, photos, ect. The Vice Chairman are asked to contribute a Vice Chairman Report even if there isn’t much going on in your area. At least let us know you are still above ground. All Vice Chairman for an Area which had three or more Vice Chairman Contests need to send me the results of your Area Buckle Winners. The last date of the year an Area can have a Vice Chairman sanctioned contest is the second weekend of November.
Please send contributions in Microsoft Word or in the body of an email. That way I can insert it into the Top Gun without too much difficulty.
Anyone sending personal checks to our Secretary (Ruth Ann Qualls) for any kind of WFDA fees, please make the check out to “WFDA”.

In case anyone is interested there is a forum at http://worldfastdrawassoc.freeforums.org/index.php

SECRETARY REPORT

Well, this year has finally wound down for WFDA. Thanks to all of you who signed up this year and who continue to sign up. We hope to see you back again next year. It has been a very interesting year for me as the incoming secretary. I have learned a few things from the past secretary and have to thank him for helping me out on a lot of the duties. Also, I would like to congratulate him, Dan, and Karen Robinson, my friend, on winning the all- around 2014 Championships. It is the first time for both of them. That’s all for now.
Ruth Ann Qualls

VICE CHAIRMAN REPORTS

AREA 2 Vice Chairman Report
Hi all from Area 2. We had the Shoot at Newkirk Oklahoma this month and all had a good time. This shoot is held during the fall celebration (Charley Adams Day Celebration) and there is a lot of food and entertainment going on at the same time as the shoot. I participate in a re-enactment gun fight for the crowd so we take a break from the shooting during that show.
We had 8 men and 3 women shooting, down in number from past shoots but we had a new shooter from Arkansas that we met when we shot at Mountain View Arkansas come and we all enjoyed each others company. The people in this sport are what really make it special.
Shooter Results were:
Men’s
1- Mike Landis 2 Gary Adrian 3 Herbert Gootee 4 David Livingston 5 Jim Tinsley 6 Kenneth Birdwell 7 Don Winters 8 Blake Kitchen.
Women’s
1 Margie Tinsley 2 Melissa McIntyr 3 Carol Adrian
We are having another shoot on October 18th at my place with a cookout after. We supply the meat and everyone brings a covered dish. We even got Mike Pantano on one of the horses one time. Everyone invited and look forward to shooting.
Mike Landis

Area 5
Well folks, the end of the year is fast approaching and most of the serious shooting
is done for the year. We have not had much going on in area 5 but have been having
a few club shoots in Los Banos, which is always a lot of fun. Till next time.
Colby Qualls, Area 5 Vice Chairman

Area 7
Hello from Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world(that is if you want to be entertained). Not much to report here that the shooting season is over with and have to wait until next year.
Personal note, Nikki would like everybody to know that she is in Colorado Springs Colorado at Fort Carson and she's looking forward to seeing all of you in April.
The last shoot of the year was in Dayton Oregon last August, just to say that I enjoyed myself and all the fun at the shoot and the nice people that I met there in Dayton. If we have the shoot next year in Dayton, I highly recommend taking the day and going to the Evergreen air

Pg 5

Museum about 5 miles south of Dayton and take the time to go into the air Museum is well worth your time to see Howard Hughes aircraft the Spruce goose is on
display at the museum I was really impressed with the aircraft and antique cars and gun collection. Since I will not see anybody to next year I will take the time to wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving(don't eat too much) and a Merry Christmas to all(and keep Christ in Christmas) and above all a happy new year and a better year in 2015 . That is all I had to report from Nevada and Las Vegas all is well all is good and hope it stays that way sincerely, Larry

Area 9 VC report
Howdy from Area 9. We just had our Kansas State Championship, in Geuda Springs, Ks 10-11-14 That is the last WFDA sanctioned contest of the year for our area. Results can be found elsewhere in this publication.
I want to thank every one who came and shot in Area 9 this year. We sure had fun having all of you shooting with us, and we are looking forward to seeing you here next year. And as always, we look forward to having shooters that haven’t shot here with us to come and shoot with us and enjoy the hospitality that we offer.
One of the truly great shooters in Fast Draw has died. Chris Dart. Chris was from Altus,Ok, and was a long time shooter. He moved from Altus to El Darado, Ks where he lived and shot Fast Draw for many years. Chris was an inspiration to many people including myself. In his later years he moved back to Altus to be with family. He died in his sleep August, 28th 2014. Rest in peace Chris Dart. A big 6 gun salute to you my friend.

Area 20 "WFDA VC REPORT, D. Robinson.
Well, Tbirds’ 2014 WORLD’S BALLOON INDEX was certainly a good one-although the wind and rain on Friday evening and Saturday morning destroyed one of the loaned tents (we weren’t the only ones that lost tents!) that Langley Rod and Gun Club had given us-the weather cleared up for the rest of the weekend and ‘gunsmoke’ took over…! This side of the border had it’s best turnout of competitors since this particular contest started, and the Annual Fair had it’s best attendance yet! Thanks, in part, to the Fast Draw events, the Aldergrove Fair (www.aldergrovefairdays.com) has now been nominated for several awards, including a Township award, and a local Tourism award. I know that the winners of this contest have been printed earlier, along with places and points which are listed in Colby and Dan’s WFDA website, so I would just like to say, CONGRATULATIONS, to Nicole Franks and Brian ‘Colorado’ Colwell, who took the top prizes! There were also winners of the special prizes, the Five Holster Certificates that were put up by John Bianchi’s

Pg 6

FRONTIER GUN LEATHER: (www,frontiergunleather.com) They were: Nicole Franks, Judy Lawton, Diana Rosen, John LeBlanc, and Jon Rivera.
A VERY popular event was the ‘Celebrity Shootout’, with Trophies going to the Top 5 places in Women and Men’s Divisions. The Top Trigger Twitchers were as follows:
Women’s Div: 1st. Place was Cornelia Naylor, Reporter, Burnaby Now newspaper.
2nd Place-Cathy Gibbs, Ass’t to Mary Polak, MP.
3rd Place-Bev Dornan, Deputy Mayor, Langley Township
4th Place-Brenda Giesbrecht, Citizen’s Services Specialist.
5th Place-Angie Quaale, Business Owner.
Men’s Div winners were: Kenny Hess, Recording Artist, Rocking River Musicfest.
2n Place-Ted Schaffer, Mayor, Langley City
3rd Place-Kenny Jones, DJ, 969, Jack FM
4th Place-Mark Warawa, MP, Conservative Party
5th Place-Rudy Storteboom, Realtor, MacDonald Realty
For an idea on just how fast some of the celebrities reacted to our new JJTIMER, (jjtimers.com)
Kenny Hess fired a fastest shot of a .430-and Cornelia Naylor cut her time down to .562.-LOOK OUT, WFDA FANS! #Celebrities and WFDA shooters were all given GUNS OF THE OLD WEST MAGAZINES (www.gunsoftheoldwest.com) who have been donating to this event for years!
For any of those of you whom may be interested in keeping track of what’s up in Area 20 Fast Draw, the Thunderbird FDClub website, complete with all kinds of gun, holster and shooting equipment, and our donor’s links, (and our weekly news, ) which is sponsored by Done Right Appliances and kept up by Tbird member, Ted Shenkeveld, can be found at:
www.thunderbirdfastdraw.com If wishing to keep in touch with us, particularly through the ‘dry season’ (winter) of Fast Draw, as most of us won’t be seeing one another until the ‘FDCircuit’ starts up next year….do ‘drop in’ to the above website..…

OREGON’S SIXGUN CHAMPS-CONGRATS to my wife, Karen Robinson, for winning the Ladies Division and to Brian Colwell, First Place Men’s, who seems to be on a roll this year, and GREAT WORK-AND THANK YOU to the Oregon folks, for a great shoot, and, in no special order, Howard Baker, Gregg Townsley, Jim Hoskins and the Bateman Bunch! (It was also great to see the VonFeldts, who came by to visit and cheer us all and T.J. on! (It were kind of a ‘reunion‘, it were!)

And a grateful THANK YOU to the bunch of Tbirds who helped put on those shows during the Sept. 6 weekend, up at Hope’s Brigade Days, and then back at the LR&GClub!! Again, in no special order, thanks to: Faye Potter, Paula and Shawn Murphy, Martin Quesnel, Alex and Margaret Watson, John LeBlanc, Jim Weatherby, Karen and myself (thanks, me…?) for what turned out to be a very successful, but hard-working, weekend! The weather was VERY warm but so were the crowds of people we performed to-and for-during both days!

Looking forward to seein’ y’all next year! (or earlier, if luckier…!)

D. Robinson, Vice Chairman, WFDA AREA 20, (B.C.)"
